GRAMMER SHOWCASING MULTIPLE SEAT INNOVATIONS AT AGRITECHNICA 2019

-New seat concepts for greater safety and longer service life

-High-tech driver seats with new design and more functionalities

-First results of the “ISV Intelligent Safety View” research project

Amberg, November 08, 2019 – At this year’s Agritechnica, the world’s leading trade fair for agricultural machinery, which takes place from November 10 to 16 in Hanover, Germany, Grammer AG will be presenting numerous new products and further developments of its proven seats. “We are globally active and very successful with our innovative driver seats and needs-based solutions for agricultural vehicles. For this reason, we have deliberately chosen “international” as the motto for our activities at this year’s Agritechnica,” explains Stephan Hirmer, Director Sales PMS AG/CE. Reflecting this idea, the flags of all 20 countries in which Grammer operates own production sites are shown on the Actimo Evolution driver seat. This seat symbolizes the creativity, functionality and high quality of Grammer’s products.

New seat concepts for greater safety and longer service life

At its stand D23 in Hall 17, Grammer will be showcasing innovative ideas for enhanced seat functionalities. Today’s assistance systems for agricultural machinery transmit a variety of optical and acoustic signals to the driver. However, they are often overheard or overlooked during daily work, something that can lead to hazardous driving situations. Firmly integrated into the seat, the Haptic Warning System developed by Grammer creates a direct connection between the seat and the assistance systems. Reliable and perceptible haptic signals alert the driver via the seat cushion and thus improve safety significantly.

Grammer is confirming its role as a leading producer of commercial vehicle seats with a series of innovative additional functions. The “Smart Cover”, a ceramic 3D printing process, opens up new possibilities with regard to protection, durability and the optical design of seat cushions with imitation leather covers. Seat cushions can wear out quickly especially in vehicles with frequent driver changes. The “Smart Cover” not only significantly improves the abrasion resistance of seat cushions, but also offers numerous attractive, customer-specific design options.

Maximo Evolution driver seat with new design and added functions

The proven Maximo Evolution driver seat, which offers maximum seating comfort in agricultural machinery, has not only been given a new design but also comes with additional functions. The upgrade with the new S700 seat top features pneumatic side contour control in the backrest cushion, allowing the seat to be adjusted even more individually to the driver’s requirements and offering appreciably improved side support. The active seat climate control system has now become more effective with an up to 40% increase in performance compared with the previous climate control system. The 2-stage seat heating also provides pleasant warmth. Together with the new multifunction armrest for the agricultural sector, the seat forms an operator system with which the driver can control relevant functions in the vehicle.

New driver seat for small and medium-sized tractors

Grammer is unveiling a completely new driver seat at Agritechnica 2019 – the MSG 283/421. Specially designed for small and medium-sized tractors, this seat offers a high level of comfort in a small space. It is available with two seat cushions of different widths (420 and 450 mm). In addition to the standard length, weight and backrest tilt adjustment, this versatile all-rounder can also be fitted with optional armrests, an operator presence switch (OPS), safety belt and a storage compartment. Especially designed for the international markets, it represents the ideal solution for specific local requirements.

“ISV Intelligent Safety View” research project

Grammer is a member of “ISV Intelligent Safety View” research project consortium. The consortium has initiated a research project, the results of which will be presented to the public for the first time at Agritechnica 2019. At the Grammer stand, a cabin will be on display demonstrating the functional principle.

The ISV project aims to enhance safety in the operation of agricultural machinery through the use of augmented reality. Camera images from machine-applied cameras are displayed on SmartGlasses (data glasses augmenting the user’s field of vision with information) and superimposed on or added to the driver’s field of vision. This enables the driver to see through obstructions and blind spots to detect the actual danger situation or obstacle.

The research project is being overseen by the Chair of Materials Handling and Material Flow Logistics at the Technical University of Munich. It is a safety component in the higher-level Driver Guidance System 4.0 project for mobile machinery. Experienced partners are working together to enhance safety during the operation of agricultural machine. Besides Grammer, the other members of the consortium are Fritzmeier CABS, Mekra Lang and Hololight.
